This week’s agri events: 20 – 24 April

Agricultural events to look out for include the Bloem Show, livestock auctions, an aquaponics course by Agri Skills Transfer, and save the date for the Agbiz Congress in June. If you're in the Eastern Cape, join Food For Mzansi's farmers' day in Tsolo on Friday

Dumelang farmers

Food For Mzansi is going to host a series of farmers’ days across the country. The farmers’ days are aimed at equipping farmers with knowledge, skills, and information transfer. It is also an opportunity to bring decision makers and funders closer to rural farming communities.

We will kick off this week in the Eastern Cape on 24 April 2026 in Tsolo, followed by Bela Bela in Limpopo on 20 May, and Cullinan in Gauteng on 22 May.


Monday 20 April

Livestock Auction

The Caledon digital livestock auction will take place on 20 April 2026 from 11:00 with SwiftVee online.

Tuesday 21 April

Bloem Show

One of South Africa’s most iconic agricultural shows. Experience livestock exhibitions, agri-displays, and family-friendly farm activities. A true celebration of farming and rural life.

Wednesday 22 April

Aquaponics Course

Learn how to integrate fish and plant production in one efficient system. Covers setup, management, and sustainability principles. Ideal for innovative and urban farmers.

Thursday 23 April

Agbiz Congress

Held every second year, the Agbiz Congress is one of the major events on the food, feed, fibre, and wine sectors’ agenda in South Africa. They anticipate attracting more than 350 delegates to the 2026 congress under the theme “Embracing Collaboration”, which will feature presentations and discussion panels from local and international speakers, as well as a student case competition and various networking opportunities.

Friday 24 April

Livestock Auction

A livestock auction will take place in Standerton, Mpumalanga, and farmers who want to sell and potential buyers are encouraged to attend.
