The primary goal of inventory management is to assist organisations in easily and efficiently managing inventory ordering, stocking, storing, and using. You’ll always know what things are in stock, how many there are, and where they are if you manage your inventory correctly.
In this episode, Dumsani Nduli, director of Sizalo Bonsmara, defines inventory management, discusses its aims, and offers guidance on how to execute it effectively.
A farm asset system
A farm inventory management system he describes as a system with all the assets of the farm. This can include tractors, fertilisers, seeds and more.
“Everything that may be valuable to the farm…It’s like we are keeping track and maintaining all the assets in the form of software or an application or an app,” Nduli explains.
The inventory management system is crucial because not only does it show a list of all the things on the farm on a given day, but also with this system, you can figure out which tractor is doing better, what it’s capable of, and what tasks it can or cannot perform compared to other tractors.
“The farm inventory management system makes the life of a farmer so simple that whenever [a farmer] sets up their programme, he or she knows what, where and how it is going to be done.”
In the episode, Nduli also talks about how a farm inventory management system can help a farmer make key business decisions, maintain stock levels and point out problem areas.

“It’s something that you need to have unfortunately whether you like it or not it’s something that you need to have.”
