The echoes of triumphant victory continue to resound throughout Mzansi following after the Springboks’ decisive 18-3 victory over Scotland. Agricultural leaders have displayed their unwavering support on social media, proudly adorned in their green and gold attire.
The Western Cape minister of agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer, expressed his pride in the Bokke, explaining that this was a promising start for the team currently participating in the Rugby World Cup.
“This bodes well for the Springboks as they progress in the competition. The Springboks bear the hopes of a nation eager for positive news. Stay focused and, through your example, continue to inspire and motivate us all to apply the same dedication and diligence to every aspect of South African life,” he said.
Christo van der Rheede, CEO of Agri SA, told Food For Mzansi that he is a proud Boks supporter and hoped not to be disappointed due to Scotland’s extensive research into the Bokke’s style of play.
“After the very good hiding the All Blacks received from the Springboks, I was a bit nervous last night because, obviously, the Scots focused on studying the Springbok game beforehand. They were sure that they would stop the Bokke in their tracks but despite their efforts, we won the game. I am super proud of the Bokke,” he said.
Van der Rheede emphasised the importance of the Boks maintaining their focus throughout the World Cup and continuing to strengthen their disruptive playing technique, as exemplified in the 49th minute of the game when the man of the match, Manie Libbok, effortlessly passed the ball to Kurt-Lee Arendse, who raced for the goal.
“That is the kind of innovative and creative playing that we want to see. We want you to continue and make sure that you do not over-exhaust yourself or pick up any injuries because we need every player in that team to ensure they bring the trophy back to South Africa,” Van der Rheede added.
Amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille stadium, Francois Swanepoel, the chief executive of Sentraal-Suid Co-operative (SSK), immersed himself in the electrifying atmosphere during the game against Scotland.
The stadium reverberated with the roar of enthusiastic fans, creating an unforgettable ambiance that truly encapsulated the spirit of rugby and the collective passion for the Springboks’ performance.
