Farmers and aspiring growers in the Western Cape have a great opportunity to learn about the future of vegetable farming at a free half-day event taking place during Nampo Cape on Friday, 12 September 2025, in Bredasdorp.

Presented in partnership with Food For Mzansi and Two Oceans Projects and Services, this session is part of the wider Nampo Cape agricultural expo – one of South Africa’s largest farming gatherings, attracting thousands of industry players each year.

The event will explore how protected cultivation methods, such as greenhouses and tunnels, can help secure a steady supply of vegetables in dry regions like the Western Cape. Attendees will hear from leading experts about innovative water management techniques, affordable water treatment technologies, and environmentally friendly pest and disease control strategies tailored for both emerging and established farmers.

Ivor Price, co-founder of Food For Mzansi, said, “Sustainable vegetable farming is key to building food security in regions facing water scarcity. By sharing practical knowledge on protected cultivation, we empower farmers to grow year-round, reduce risks, and access new markets.”

I encourage all farmers and growers to join us, gain valuable insights, and connect with experts who can help you succeed.”
