Ziphezinhle Gabuza‘s passion for farming and technology led him to bridge the gap between traditional agriculture and innovation. Now, Gabuza, also known as “Boyzie”, serves as the managing director of Luxescape, a technology company focused on revolutionising agriculture through digital solutions.
Through Luxescape’s digital tools and platforms, Gabuza from Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal aims to empower farmers by providing them with resources to enhance their productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
These tools can range from crop monitoring systems to precision agriculture techniques, enabling farmers to make data-driven decisions and optimise their operations.
“My vision is to bridge the gap between traditional farming practices and modern technology. Through our platforms, we provide farmers with the resources they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world,” he explains.
Love for agriculture takes root
It is a career path that he is extremely proud of and would not want it any other way.
“I grew up surrounded by the rhythms of rural life. My mother, a single parent and a teacher in our local community, instilled in me a deep appreciation for the land,” he explains.
Guided by his mother’s wisdom and encouragement, Gabuza enrolled in an agricultural boarding school in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, where he was immersed in the intricacies of farming and the potential of technology.
Computer application technology and mathematics are among the key subjects for those who want to venture into technological spaces, he advises.

However, Gabuza’s journey is not without challenges. The road to success is fraught with obstacles, from technological complexities to the daunting task of bringing his team to the standard of excellence he envisions.
“The most challenging part of my job is ensuring that we meet our own high standards. But with dedication and perseverance, I believe we can overcome any obstacle.”

This includes being mindful of screen time, practising good digital hygiene (such as using strong passwords and keeping software updated), and respecting the privacy and security of yourself and others online.
