The Southern Hemisphere’s largest wine festival, WineX, is set to return to Sandton, Johannesburg, this October. This marks its 25th year with an expanded programme of wine tastings, music, and experiences for enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
This year, the festival will feature over 700 wines and welcome around 9 000 guests, making it a key highlight of the year for South Africa’s wine industry.
Bridgette Kruger, Standard Bank’s head of private banking in South Africa, said, “WineX is a measure of the vibrancy, the spirit of innovation and the dedication to quality which have become the hallmarks of the country’s wine industry. Showcasing award-winning wines
The festival runs from 29 to 31 October at the Sandton Convention Centre, bringing Gauteng’s vibrant, sophisticated crowd together with the best-known South African wines. For farmers and producers, WineX also provides valuable insight into trends and preferences in South Africa’s largest wine market.

WineX founder Michael Fridjhon highlights Gauteng’s significance in the industry: “Gauteng now consumes 41% of all South African wine, making it the country’s biggest single wine market, ahead even of our major export countries like the UK and Germany. WineX is therefore the most important single point of engagement for our leading producers to meet with their largest consumer base.”
Fridjhon explains that the wine show showcases all award-winning wines, highlighting the festival’s role in connecting producers directly with committed wine consumers, even those with limited time.
